The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Looking Stylish This Summer

If the air conditioner is running and you’re still sweating even though you haven’t left the house, your motivation to get dressed and put on makeup may be low. But here’s a little secret: Summer is the most accessible season for looking good, and that’s because summer clothes are more straightforward than we think. You only need a few simple summer wardrobe tips to look your best year-round.

If you value sleeping more than dressing up or don’t want to put in the effort, summer is the easiest time of year to fool people into thinking you put in more effort than you did. Simple dresses, no makeup, and a few suitable accessories are the tools to get out of the house on hot summer days.

Do you want to look like it took you an hour to get ready when, in reality, you got from bed to the door in 10 minutes? We’re here to help. Keep your napping habit under control with these six simple tricks for lazy girls.

  1. Use Dress

We’ve said it before, and we’ll repeat it: one of the hottest times of the year is when you can make the most of your clothes. Not only is a dress one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing, but it’s also an outfit option that can be worn on the go.

If you don’t have the desired dress collection, invest in a few versatile dresses, such as lightweight or crochet bustier that can be worn as a cover-up over a swimsuit. You don’t need dozens of dresses to choose from, just a few you like and know fit you.

  1. Plan Your Outfit the Night Before

If you’re a night sleeper, I feel for you. Getting out from under the covers every morning is a struggle that never ceases to be a temptation, leading to more frequent presses of the snooze button and less time to get ready. What’s the secret to not letting this stop you from getting dressed? Plan your outfit the night before.

You might not like this habit because your mom made you do it in elementary school, but it’s pretty reliable. If you know what you want to wear, you’ll avoid the all-too-common situation of hastily trying on five different outfits you don’t like and sticking with the one you do. Even if you change small details (like accessories or shoes) depending on how you’re feeling that morning, you’ll have a foundation to work on, saving you time.

  1. Create Your Uniform

It’s easy to get into the habit of repeatedly wearing the same outfits, and we don’t think that isn’t good. Once you know what works for you and have a few items you feel most comfortable in, list a few outfits you can pull out when needed. For a work day, it might be denim shorts and a knit tee; for a barbecue or a night on the terrace, it might be a midi dress and sandals.

  1. Investing In Accessories

You know what can make even a white T-shirt and jeans combo look like you didn’t rush your outfit? The right accessories! And you don’t have to reinvent the wheel with them to have a few to jazz up your look. A gold necklace, statement sunglasses, and an accessory or two can be paired with your outfits to make you look like you’re trying hard – even when you’re not.

  1. Keep Your Wardrobe Up To Date This Season

I know! Regularly clearing out your wardrobe of misfits is easier said than done. But my trick for clearing out your wardrobe is to do it consistently, not all at once.

If I remove an item that no longer fits or that I don’t feel comfortable in, I immediately put it in a donation bag under the bed instead of returning it to the wardrobe to gather dust. I also keep boxes under the bed to store out-of-season clothes that are only removed from the wardrobe when the weather is nice. If you don’t have things in your wardrobe that you won’t wear, it will help you get a better idea of what you can wear, which means you’ll feel like you have more choice, not less.

  1. Follow the No-Makeup Makeup Rules

Nobody wants to put a load of makeup on themselves and then wash it off before they get to the end of the block. Summer is the season of no makeup; it usually involves just a few simple products. Ditch the full-coverage foundation and try light, heat-appropriate makeup.

A few years ago, I randomly bought a pair of linen trousers at Target. Finding the best linen pants was a fun, personal adventure. Linen trousers are satisfyingly comfortable, flowing as you walk, and a chic upgrade over wearing regular jeans daily.

In the summer, I seldom reach for jeans instead of linen trousers. Pull-on styles are casual, and linen trousers are chic. They are ideal for any day, whether a run around town, a coffee with friends, a night out, or a drink with mates.

You don’t have to worry about the perfect summer bottom, as linen trousers always solve the problem. Instead, pick a new favorite pair of trousers. Please look at the trousers we’ve added to our boots and how we wear them as soon as possible.
