Nick Jonas Reveals 2 Qualities That Make A Good Husband: ‘Reliable & Trustworthy’

American singer-actor Nick Jonas gave a passionate response on what makes him a good husband to his wife, Indian film star Priyanka Chopra. Keen to lead as an example and let his daughter Malti Marie see how he treats her mother, Jonas said he recognises “being reliable” and “trustworthy” as two attributes of a responsible partner.

Jonas opened up about his opinion on the age-old question of “what makes a good husband” after he appeared on Jay Shetty’s ‘On Purpose’ podcast on Wednesday, February 4. During the show, Shetty specifically asked Jonas, “What are you aspiring to be when you’re trying to be a good husband?” The singer  replied: “Being a good husband, for me, means being reliable, trustworthy.”

Nick Jonas On Leading By Example

Nick Jonas identifies his behaviour around Priyanka and daughter Malti as integral to his core values and lifestyle. Elaborating on the subject, the Camp Rock actor said he believes the way he treats his wife is likely to determine how Malti sees men when she grows up.

“Knowing that our daughter is watching and will one day, hopefully, find somebody who makes her incredibly happy. And the way in which I treat her mother is incredibly important to who she becomes. It is my responsibility to do all I can to make Priyanka happy, to make her feel safe, and to make her laugh,” Jonas said.

“To know that life is a mixed bag of emotions and experiences, and it can feel really disorienting and overwhelming sometimes. But it’s a lot easier to traverse all that with a partner whom you can rely on.”

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have been married since December 2018, celebrating over seven years of marriage. In a recent interaction, the signer shared how he was first introduced to the Bollywood actor through a billboard, which eventually led to them meeting, dating, and getting married. Their cross-cultural relationship began with a DM in 2016 and a whirlwind romance. The couple got married in a multi-day ceremony in India in December 2018. They became parents to daughter Malti Marie, who was born in January 2022, via surrogate.

Nick Jonas Recalls Daughter Malti’s Birth

“We were expecting her to arrive in April of the year she was born, and we get a call that it’s going to be sooner. So basically, we went into action. We got to the hospital, and she came out. She was 1 pound, 11 ounces, and…purple,” said the singer, recalling Malti’s birth via surrogacy in January 2022.

“These angels at the NICU kind of resuscitated her in that moment and got her taken care of really quickly and intubated and everything else,” he added

Born during the COVID-19 pandemic, Malti required extensive care and protection. Nick Jonas said Malti “fought every day for three and a half months and slowly started to gain some weight” as he and Priyanka put in 12-hour shifts at the hospital.
