Kristen Stewart reacts to Cinerama Dome reopening

Kristen Stewart is cheering on the revival of one of Hollywood’s most beloved movie theaters.

Sony announced last month that it will restore and reopen the historic Cinerama Dome, with Sony-owned Alamo Drafthouse set to operate both the Dome and the adjacent former ArcLight Theater Hollywood location.

The venue, shuttered since 2020, is expected to reopen in early 2028.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the L.A. premiere of her new film The Wrong Girls, Stewart reacted to the news with a mix of relief and cautious optimism.

“It took forever! It took Sony to do it. I hope they don’t f**k it up!” She quickly walked back the skepticism, adding, “No, they won’t. I’m so grateful.”

Stewart has some personal stake in the local theater scene beyond her acting career, she purchased the Highland Theatre, a 100-year-old venue in Highland Park that had closed in spring 2024, earlier this year, making her one of a handful of stars stepping in to preserve L.A.’s classic movie houses.

Reaction to the Cinerama Dome’s return has been largely enthusiastic across the city, though some moviegoers have voiced concern that Alamo Drafthouse’s mobile-ordering model could change the character of the experience once it reopens.
