VIDEO: Karachi citizens pelt robbers with stones during attempted street robbery

KARACHI: A video showing two suspected robbers attempting to loot a citizen in broad daylight in Karachi’s Korangi area has surfaced, with bystanders pelting the suspects with stones and forcing them to flee empty-handed.

The mobile phone footage shows the two suspects attempting to rob a man in the middle of a road, while a large number of people are present on both sides of the street.

As the robbery unfolds, some bystanders begin throwing stones at the suspects, who abandon the attempt and flee from the scene.

According to police, the incident took place on September 19 in Korangi’s Zaman Town area, where two unidentified suspects attempted to rob a salesman working for a private company.

The police report said the suspects stopped the man near a petrol pump on a road in the area and attempted to take his belongings. When he resisted, they allegedly struck him with the butt of a pistol, injuring him, before fleeing.

The incident was reported at Zaman Town police station and a case was registered under Sections 393 (attempt to commit robbery) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The FIR, numbered 1087/26, was registered against two unidentified suspects.

Police said an investigation was underway and CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area was being obtained to identify and trace the suspects.
