He misses it completely and luckily for him, the ball bounces enough to make the take awkward for Verreynne. He whips off the bails but it seems that Mahmudul has made it back, at least judging by everyone’s reaction. But hang on. Just hang on. Mahmudul’s bat is behind the crease but the question is whether it is grounded. It seemed to pop up just before it crossed the line. If that is the case, then Verreynne was quick enough and Mahmudul will have to walk back. Third umpire is taking a long look at this. And he concludes that the bat was just grounded for a moment as it crossed the line before being lifted again. Feels a contentious call, given it seemed the bat never crossed the line in a grounded state (before the bails were dislodged). Decision made, though, and Mahmudul’s blushes have been spared…
