Jameela Jamil reacts to Ariana Grande’s break after questioning her weight

Jameela Jamil is supportive of Ariana Grande stepping back from the spotlight after the actress expressed concern for the pop star’s weight.
After Grande explained that her recent announcement to step back from the spotlight was not “impulsive,”, the Good Place star commended her decision.
“Ariana Grande explains this break was planned for a long time and was not a reaction to the public reaction to her work,” Jamil wrote while sharing a video of Grande addressing her fans. “She wants rest and boundaries and I think that’s great. It’s something more people need to do for themselves,” she added.

Over the weekend, Jamil came under fire for saying that Grande is “possibly dying right in front of us,” echoing a sentiment shared by many fans and viewers after the release of Grande’s music video for her new song, petal.
Amid the heavy criticism, Grande’s rep announced that the Grammy-winner is taking “a step back from visibility” after her ongoing eternal sunshine tour wraps up in September.
With no reason given, fans grew increasingly concerned for Grande’s well-being. However, Grande reassured fans on Monday during her concert in Chicago’s United Center that things got “blown out of proportion.”
“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing,” she said, clarifying that the decision was made “quietly, a long time ago.”
