Chlöe’s Sophomore Album ‘Trouble In Paradise’ Is Here

Chlöe Bailey’s long-awaited debut album In Pieces arrived last year after much fanfare. Now, just a year later, the “FYS” singer is back with her sophomore LP, Trouble in Paradise.
Throughout the project, Chlöe demonstrates an adept handling of a wide array of sounds that take her well outside of what many fans are used to hearing from her as a solo artist. She’s right at home on traditional R&B songs like “Nice Girls Finish Last,” “Rose,” and “Shake” with Jeremih and has some fun on more upbeat offerings like “Strawberry Lemonade” and “Never Let You Go” with YG Marley. She even reunites with her sister Halle, with whom she rose to fame as a part of Chlöe x Halle, on “Want Me.”
The album, Bailey said, was partially inspired by the breathtaking environment she was in while creating it. The project was recorded and mastered in St. Lucia, and her lifestyle on the island at the time helped her ease into making something that felt totally natural.
“I just really wanted people to feel the peace and the love that this place has brought me, where it was able to open up my creative mind and my creative spirit to literally write my troubles away in paradise. And the album feels like what a summer fling feels like, the back and forth of it, the highs, the lows, the love,” she recently told HelloBeautiful.
Now, with two solo albums under her belt and a starring role in an upcoming miniseries, Chlöe is working to keep herself grounded and emotionally stable amid her rapidly moving career.
“This year I want to be more at peace and more disciplined with my emotions,” she said honestly. “That’s my goal for this year, and it’s already been off to a great start where I’m learning so much about myself, where I’m learning the power of not revealing everything all the time, keeping some things to myself. Not everybody deserves access to your thoughts, your dreams, your aspirations, your inner thoughts, or even your emotions.”
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist premieres Sept. 5 on Peacock.
