Norwegian foreign minister arrives in Pakistan on two-day official visit

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide arrived in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day official visit, marking the first visit by a Norwegian top diplomat to the country in a decade.
The Norwegian foreign minister was received at Islamabad airport by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Ayesha Ali.
FM Eide will remain in Pakistan from August 13 to 14 as part of his official visit, according to details shared by the Foreign Office.
Eide is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. During the visit, the two leaders will hold delegation-level talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations.
The discussions will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education and people-to-people contacts. The two sides will also exchange views on important regional and international developments.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit builds on sustained high-level engagement between the two countries, including telephone conversations between DPM Dar and FM Eide in March and April 2026.
Norway’s State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik also visited Islamabad in May this year.
The Foreign Office said Eide’s visit would provide an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and Norway while exploring new avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation.
