Norwegian Foreign Affairs Minister Espen Barth Eide is set to undertake an official visit to Pakistan on August 13-14 to discuss deepening bilateral ties, marking the first visit by a Norwegian foreign minister to the country in a decade, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Wednesday.
Eide is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and FM Ishaq Dar.
During his two-day visit, the Norwegian foreign minister will hold delegation-level talks with Dar, with discussions expected to cover the full spectrum of bilateral relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Norway.

The FO said the two sides would explore ways to expand cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education and people-to-people contacts.

The talks will also include an exchange of views on key regional and international developments.
The visit comes amid sustained high-level engagement between Islamabad and Oslo. Dar and Eide held telephone conversations in March and April this year, while Norwegian State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik visited Islamabad in May.
The FO said Eide’s visit would provide an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and Norway and identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
In 2015, Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende came to Islamabad on an official visit and held talks with senior officials and the army chief.
