Why Do We Snore While Sleeping?

According to the dietitian, snoring typically occurs due to breathing or lung-related issues. However, the root cause can vary from person to person. For some, obesity or structural issues in the nose may lead to snoring. Other causes include nasal congestion, allergies, nasal polyps, alcohol consumption, sleep apnoea, and ageing.

What To Include In Diet?

Preeti Pandey shares that maintaining a healthy diet is crucial in tackling the issue of snoring. Since the problem is associated with breathing and the lungs, one should include foods that support lung health. It is also important to eat foods that help relieve cold and allergy symptoms.

Some recommended items include honey, garlic, milk, mint, onion, pineapple, and turmeric. Most importantly, avoid tobacco and smoking entirely.

Yoga For Snoring Relief

Delhi-based yoga trainer Shashank Gupta advises practising yoga and pranayama regularly to reduce snoring. He recommends Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Bhramari Pranayama, Ujjayi Pranayama, Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, and Kapalbhati Pranayama. These asanas and breathing exercises can significantly help alleviate snoring.
