CDF Munir reviews POF Wah’s defence production, indigenisation efforts

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah, reviewing the complex’s production capabilities and indigenisation efforts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
The army chief’s visit focused on reviewing the POF’s production capabilities, export potential and contributions towards the country’s defence industrial base, the military’s media wing said in a statement.
During the visit, CDF Munir was briefed on various aspects of POF’s operations and its role in strengthening national defence through the indigenous development and production of a diverse range of military equipment.
Field Marshal Munir also witnessed the tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition, highlighting the complex’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance and enhancing the country’s defence production capabilities, the ISPR said.
CDF Munir was presented with an overview of the progress on the corporatisation process following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Dipra) Ordinance, it added.
The army chief was also apprised about the ongoing indigenisation and upgradation efforts through the installation of two new industrial plants, which are likely to commence production by the end of the ongoing year.
The visit underscored the military’s commitment to advancing self-reliance, indigenous production and technological innovation in the country’s defence sector, the ISPR said.
