David, Victoria Beckham escape to Italy amid family drama

David and Victoria Beckham have gone back to where their love story began — hoping a little Italian sunshine can help them through a very painful family chapter.
The couple are enjoying a romantic getaway in Portofino, the same Italian destination where they stayed in 1997, shortly after falling for each other.
This time, however, the mood is more complicated as their ongoing estrangement from son Brooklyn Beckham continues.
“This holiday has been like a second honeymoon and about them enjoying time as a couple together,” as per The Mirror.
“It’s taken a lot for them to laugh and joke together again after the Brooklyn saga. Victoria has been devastated by the fallout. Brooklyn broke her heart, and everyone including David has been deeply concerned about her. But she is starting to feel better.”
David, 51, even shared a throwback-style message from their hotel, writing, “29 years ago we came to Portofino to this hotel before anyone knew we were dating and here we are back again.”
Victoria echoed the sentiment, captioning a photo, “Back in Portofino where we began in 1997.”
The romantic trip comes as Brooklyn, 27, appears to have further distanced himself from his parents.
He recently showed off a tattoo cover-up replacing the “mama’s boy” tribute to Victoria with a floral design believed to be inspired by wife Nicola Peltz’s wedding bouquet.
And while the Beckhams were in Italy, Brooklyn and Nicola were reportedly nearby on Sir Elton John’s yacht — making the family distance feel even more striking.
Still, the couple appear determined to keep going. “In a strange way, it has brought them closer together, which no one could have predicted. It’s almost as if they’ve fallen in love again, and gone back to a time when things were more simple.”
For now, David is reportedly doing everything he can to keep Victoria smiling.
“At the moment they’re just biding their time, and they hope that if they keep the door open, Brooklyn will eventually come back to them.”
