Deadpool ‘forces’ Hugh Jackman to ask for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ role

Ryan Reynolds may have found the most Deadpool way possible to get Hugh Jackman into Avengers: Doomsday.

He threatened the Logan star to make the next Spider-Man movie with everyone in it except for Wolverine.

The X-Men actor apparently did not want to record a message asking Marvel Studios to add him to the upcoming movie, set to hit the theaters on December 18.

Deadpool, however, had other plans.

In a hilarious new D23 video, Jackman appears in front of the camera while Reynolds stays behind it, with only his voice heard as he dictates what is supposed to say.

“Dude, I don’t want to do this,” Jackman protests initially. “They’ve already done filming. This is silly.”

But Deadpool’s pitch becomes increasingly difficult for Wolverine to ignore.

Reynolds teases, “maybe the next one is called Deadpool and Spider-Man and literally everyone except Wolverine.”

Jackman immediately takes offense, saying, “Who are you? Like, that’s both hurtful and spiteful.”

And that’s when the joke starts looking suspiciously like a negotiation.

Deadpool then gets Jackman to record a message addressed to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and the D23 audience, asking whether Marvel needs some help “rounding out the cast” of Avengers: Doomsday.

Jackman reluctantly repeats Reynolds’ instructions word for word.

Jackman can’t help but point out the absurdity of the request, adding, “Dude, they’ve got like 28 people. Why the hell do they need us?”

Deadpool’s answer is pure Reynolds, “Because we’re the golden ones. We’re special.”

Eventually, Jackman gives in and delivers the message, saying he’d “love to join” Avengers: Doomsday and might even be able to convince Reynolds to appear.

Jackman’s caption makes the whole thing even funnier, declaring: “If this looks like I’m recording this video against my will. It’s because I AM.”

Reynolds also played into the gag by describing his own version of the clip as a “hostage video.”

Interestingly, Reynolds had already brought his Deadpool antics to the Marvel spotlight at San Diego Comic-Con, where he appeared as Jeanpool during the Avengers: Doomsday presentation.

Now, at D23, he’s once again using Deadpool to stir up questions about where he and Jackman’s characters fit into Marvel’s enormous next chapter.
