Gypsy Rose Blanchard breaks silence after ex Ken Urker’s death

Gypsy Rose Blanchard breaks silence after ex Ken Urker’s death

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is remembering Ken Urker following the sudden death of her ex-fiancé and the father of her daughter, Aurora.

Urker was found unresponsive at his Louisiana home on Thursday, October 1—his 34th birthday. Emergency responders were unable to revive him, according to the details provided.

Gypsy, who had sent Urker a “happy birthday” text without receiving a response, has now opened up about the loss.

“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” Gypsy told TMZ, adding that he “will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”

She also addressed the intense attention surrounding Urker, saying he faced “relentless cyberbullying” and an “unimaginable level of public scrutiny.”

“The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure,” she said, describing its impact on him.

Gypsy added that she will make sure Aurora knows her father beyond the version strangers may have seen online.

“I will make sure [Aurora] grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.”

Urker first contacted Gypsy in 2017 after watching HBO’s Mommy Dead and Dearest, which explored her life and her relationship with her late mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

Their letters eventually turned into phone calls and a relationship. After about a year together, Urker proposed in October 2018.

“This was something we had discussed for a while, so it wasn’t out of the blue,” Gypsy previously said. “We bounced around the idea, we have a pretty solid thing going and we’re pretty sure this is what we want.”

Their relationship later ended, but Gypsy’s latest words show that the connection remained deeply significant to her.
