Mariska Hargitay and daughter Amaya Twin in red at 2026 Emmys

Mariska Hargitay made history at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, September 14, becoming the first woman to host the ceremony in 15 years, following Jane Lynch’s turn in 2011.

She marked the milestone with her family by her side, arriving on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater alongside husband Peter Hermann and their three children, daughter Amaya and sons August and Andrew.

Hargitay, 62, sparkled in a bold red sequined gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, off-the-shoulder strap detailing, a fitted silhouette and a feather-like cascading train.

Her 15-year-old daughter, Amaya, wore a nearly identical red look, minus the dramatic train, giving the two a striking twinning moment on the carpet.

Hermann and the couple’s sons coordinated in matching classic black tuxedos for the family outing.

The hosting gig comes on the heels of a big awards run for Hargitay, who took home two Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month for My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay, a documentary she wrote and directed about her late mother, Jayne Mansfield.

Hargitay has long been open about how central her family is to her happiness, telling Call Her Daddy in 2025, “I think my family is my biggest place of success in my life. It’s everything that I wanted. My husband is everything that I wanted. My husband is my home, my cheerleader, makes me laugh. He can fix anything, and the best dad.”
