Nicola Coughlan shares sweet relationship secret with boyfriend Jake Dunn

Nicola Coughlan and Jake Dunn have found a pretty simple relationship hack: if you’re already traveling for work, why not bring your favourite person along?

The Bridgerton star, 39, opened up about her relationship with Dunn, 26, revealing that he joined her in Malta while she filmed her upcoming movie The Magic Faraway Tree.

“He actually was in Malta the whole time I was filming, so I can’t complain,” Coughlan told E! News.

Dunn initially visited while he was on a break from filming — and apparently decided Malta was too good to leave.

“He came for a visit and then stayed. He was on a break from filming at that time. He’s like, ‘I think I’m gonna stay.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, stay!’ ” she recalled.

Coughlan said the movie set became something of a temporary family camp, with co-stars Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy also having loved ones around.

“There was lots of little kids there, husbands, wives, friends,” she said. “It’s a very happy memory, that time. It was lovely.”

Coughlan and Dunn were first linked in 2024 and have generally kept their romance away from the spotlight. That privacy became particularly important after they were photographed together in London.

“Imagine if you had an evening at the pub and then you walked around, talking, having a lovely time. And a few days later, you see pictures of that. The violation is immense,” Coughlan told The Guardian in 2025.

The couple eventually made their red carpet debut at a BAFTA Television event in April 2025 after going Instagram official the previous month.

Now, with The Magic Faraway Tree arriving in theaters August 21, Coughlan is proving that sometimes the best way to survive a hectic filming schedule is simply to bring your person with you.
