‘Spider Man: Brand New Day’ shatters China box office records

Spider Man: Brand New Day is off to an amazing start in China, with fans rushing to cinemas to watch Tom Holland return as Peter Parker.

The new Marvel film already broke records and is proving to be one of the biggest Hollywood hits in the country this year.

The movie has earned 121.3 million dollars in just five days as it also easily got the number one spot during its opening weekend, bringing in around 68.1 million dollars in its first three days alone.

The good news did not stop there. Spider Man: Brand New Day also made history in IMAX.

The film earned 19 million dollars from IMAX screens, making it the biggest IMAX opening ever for a Spider Man movie in China.

The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is about Peter Parker as he starts a new part of his life after the events of Spider Man: No Way Home.

Tom returns with Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Sadie Sink.

While Spider Man stayed at the top, animated film All Wishes Come True! came in second, meanwhile Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Soccer is also doing strong in cinemas.

Overall, cinemas all over China made 132.3 million dollars over the weekend, with the country’s total box office is around 3.39 billion dollars.
