Tom Hiddleston’s emotional comments on Loki resurface ahead of ‘Doomsday’

Tom Hiddleston is officially confirmed to return as Loki in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Tom Hiddleston can’t quite separate himself from Loki after playing the Marvel character for nearly two decades.

His heartfelt comments about his long-running on-screen persona are resurfacing as excitement builds around his return in Avengers: Doomsday.

During a June 2025 appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hiddleston reflected on his 16-year journey as the God of Mischief and explained just how deeply connected he feels to the character.

“I just poured my heart into that show,” he said while discussing his experience with the Loki series.

The 45-year-old described the role as something he had always hoped to explore more deeply, adding that he never expected to be given the opportunity to take the character as far as he did.

He continued, “It’s sort of like where I always wanted to get to and where I sometimes didn’t dare to dream I would be allowed to get to…”

“I’ve played this guy for 16 years, what am I gonna do, just put him on the shelf?” the British heartthrob said. “This is my guy. He’s my companion, he’s my other self. He’s my ride or die, I love that guy.”

The comments have taken on fresh importance with him officially returning as Loki in Avengers: Doomsday.

Following the conclusion of the Disney+ series, Loki’s story left him in a vastly different place from the mischievous villain audiences first met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
