Sandra Bullock recalls ‘dark time’ with one of her ex

Sandra Bullock is opening about most troublesome chapters of her life.
The Practical Magic 2 star, 62, sat down with her longtime pal Jennifer Aniston for Interview magazine’s profile.
The Oscar winner discussed her life changing decision including; divorce, motherhood, and filming Gravity amid chaos.
Bullock was married to Jesse James from 2005 to 2010. The split came after multiple women came forward claiming affairs with the then-57-year-old TV personality, and Jesse later admitted to cheating.
That same year, the Speed star adopted her son Louis, now 16, on her own. Looking back, she says the period was overwhelming.
“The one film that was the most meaningful to me, because it was paralleling where I was, was Gravity,” she shared. “It was during a really dark time in my life.”
For the actress, filming the 2013 space thriller became an unexpected refuge.
“Being locked in a box by myself with no one to talk to for nine hours a day, you do a lot of thinking,” she added of filming the space-themed movie.
At the same time, paparazzi were camped outside her home after Jesse’s scandal broke. With a newborn to protect, she got creative.
“I was just cleaning out the closet, and I found these hockey bags for stuffing clothes in for travel,” she recalled.
“Child Protective Services, do not come after me, but when the poop hit the fan for me … I realized I had to get out of the house because the paparazzi were going to descend.”
“No one knew I had a newborn, so I put him in his car carrier, put it in the hockey bag and zipped the hockey bag around him,” the Proposal alum admitted.
“Then, I carried the hockey bag to the car, as though I was just carrying any random hockey bag.”
For her, keeping Louis out of the spotlight was everything.
“You have to operate like the CIA. If you’re surrounded by good people, you’ll be fine,” she stated.
“But if people near you mean you harm, no matter how covert you are and how much pre-planning you do, your privacy is information that brings them cash. I had it happen recently and it broke my heart.”
Years later, she expanded her family by adopting daughter Laila, now 12, in 2015.
