Sid Wilson let go by Slipknot after difficult year: Report

Sid Wilson has been with the heavy metal band for 30 years

Slipknot’s longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson has reportedly been fired after nearly three decades with the band.

TMZ reported that Wilson was informed Friday afternoon (July 31) that his time with the iconic metal group had come to an end, though no reason for the decision has been made public.

Neither Slipknot nor Wilson has commented on the reported departure, and the band has not announced who, if anyone, will replace him.

Wilson’s reported exit comes during a difficult year personally. Four months ago, he and fiancée Kelly Osbourne ended their engagement after four years together. The former couple share a 3-year-old son, Sidney, and first met in 1999 during Ozzfest before beginning a relationship decades later.

Wilson proposed backstage at Ozzy Osbourne’s Black Sabbath farewell concert in July 2025, just weeks before the rock legend’s death.

If confirmed, Wilson’s departure marks another significant lineup change for Slipknot. He joined the band’s classic lineup, which helped launch the group’s breakthrough in 1999 alongside Corey Taylor, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, Craig Jones and Chris Fehn.

Over the years, several original members have either left or passed away, leaving Taylor, Crahan, Thomson and Root as the remaining members from Slipknot’s best-known era.
